About me
I’m Thibaut Probst, and I consider myself a passionate professional amateur.
My first passion is weightlifting. Being a sportsman since the age of 5, I first played basketball for 10 years and rugby union for 21 years. I participated in the Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament with my high school in 2006, and I was French Champion of College rugby in 2010 and Vice-Champion in 2011. At club level, I played at a competitive level in all youth categories, including departmental and regional selections, until my body told me this sport was no longer suitable for me. In parallel, I started weightlifting in 2007 at the age of 18. At the time, the goal was to gain mass in order to better meet the evolution of modern rugby. Gradually, I realized that this sport could actually lead to physical accomplishment, self-improvement, and above all, better health and longevity. I also practise running.
In this sense, my second passion is physical well-being. Weightlifting is one component, but it’s not the only one, especially if not practiced correctly. Having suffered numerous injuries, I sought to understand how to adapt this activity and use a range of effective tools to train for a long time and age healthily. I’m talking here about the understanding of anatomy, morphologies, biomechanics, self-massage, joint mobilizations, stretching, sleep, nutrition, dietary supplements, and many other things.
This thirst for learning, improving, and becoming a better version of myself every day is also, and especially, to feel better, not just physically. Through my encounters, travels, readings, and the podcasts I listen to, I learn to build my life philosophy that elevates myself. This drives my personal development.
Finally, cybersecurity is one of the biggest chapters of my life. A passion that led me to deploy this website myself, for example. But more importantly, a passion I studied until my PhD and is now my job in the industry, and to some extent, teach to students. It is about satisfying the insatiable desire to bridge the gap that will always exist between a hacker and defense systems. Although I specialize in network security, I am interested in many aspects of cybersecurity.
Other interests inspire me, such as astrophysics, astronomy or strategic trading card games, which I may one day extend to this website.
In the meantime, see you soon with new articles!
